Happy New Year from all of us at Brown Audio!

Great news: We are thrilled to report that WE FINALLY WON AN INDABA CONTEST! Wooooo! We win! We’re winners! Now to win one with a cash prize…

We crushed the Christmas competition with this tricked out version of Joy to the World, which we call “Joy to the Worlds.” All of them. Or at least three. Give it a listen and bask with us in our glory!

The Clifford Brown 3 will be opening the 2014 music season with a show at The JazzSchool on January 11. Please come celebrate all the good things going on in the new year with me at this show! Tickets are $15, $12 for students, and the show starts at 8 pm. The band is really looking forward to this one, and we’re hoping to fill the house with friendly faces. We’d love to see your friendly face!
My Top 5 Moments of 2013

1. Catching my first fish – Not catching fish has been a lifelong hobby of mine, but one day in 2013 broke my unlucky streak in a big way. After years of never even catching one fist, I caught 5 rainbow trout in one day at Lake Temescal in Oakland. It was a beautiful moment and somehow life-affirming. And then we cooked them with herbs from our home garden, and they were so delicious.

2. Forming the CB3 – 2013 brought the opportunity to team up with Brian Ho and Josh Jones to form a trio and to work with Casey Cameron to write new music for the trio. Playing with the group and writing the music has been a great pleasure this year, and I’m looking forward to another great year of music with these guys.

3. Releasing Revolution Cafe – I started working on a new musical project with some associates I met through Indaba in 2012, and we formed a collaborative called Concourse in Atmosphere. In 2013 I was able to release a complete album created by musicians all over the world, Revolution Cafe. I love this music and I’m so proud of the album.

I worked hard at producing new remixes on a regular basis in 2013, and by the end of the year, it turned out that I averaged almost two per month. Making remixes gives me the opportunity to be creative, practice my craft, and work with my musician friends, so this was a great accomplishment.

One is a fire-and-ice, and the other is a Disneyland rose, which is gorgeous peachy color and smells amazing. The roses have been blooming all year and are now the centerpiece of the front yard. Thanks, Mom!
